All about Hair Extensions

Most hairstyles may or may not look great on each face, as the shape of the face and the type of hair both vary from one individual to another. If you thought even on the computer screen, your hair would look great then you might be in for a big surprise when your stylist's scissors does the deed! Hair extensions are your best answer to this problem.

The Ease of Extensions
The key to their fabulous hair today is the clever use of hair extensions, carefully blended to match exactly with their own hair. Hair extensions offer instant volume for limp tresses or emergency relief from a disastrous haircut. You can expect extensions to last up to three months. If you're not very happy with the outcome, you can always rely on your old style for comfort.

Caring for hair extensions is a bit different from caring for natural hair. There are some things that you just need to know about them:

* Use a soft bristle brush and brush your hair from the bottom and gently work your way up.
* Gently tie your hair up while sleeping.
* Do not color your own hair extensions at home.
* To prevent tangling, run your fingers through the braid extensions.
* Don't spray your extensions with conditioners or any silicone based products as they can cause the braids to slip.

How long d extensions last?
Hair-length beyond 26"-30" puts an extra weight on your scalp, which may lead to uneven pressure and damage to your own hair. The best looking hair extensions for average height women are usually around 22" or even lesser.

How much do they cost?
It's all relative really! Some would give it to you for a few hundred dollars while others may charge you thousands. You'll have to shop around and do your bit of research, but remember that to get the best possible product at a premium price. There's one thing for sure that with hair extensions your hair are surely gonna look and feel great!

Can I wear my hair up?
Of course, you can! Hair extensions should not be applied any lower than the base of your scalp (approximately at the level of the middle of your ears) and so your hair under this point covers the extensions while you wear it in pigtails, ponytails, french braids etc.

Does it hurt?
No it definitely does not! If you get hurt while your hairdresser tries to attach these, they pray get out of there! The extension artist should braid the tracks firmly but comfortably. The tension should be even all over your head with no points pulling or hurting. Do not put up with someone telling you it has to be really tight in order to be secure. Most hair, extension or otherwise needs to be loosened a bit for your scalp to breathe, so if it's any style that you are trying to live up to, make sure that it does not weigh your head down.

Even when you retire in the night, make sure that you have your hair either loosely tied in a braid or left open, if it's short. At most times both hair and skin tend to breathe up to its maximum level so it's important that you don't fasten your hair tightly. Even as far as the face goes, it is best that you don't use a face mask overnight, trust me it doesn't do any wonders to your skin. And if the solution in the face pack leaks then you're in for dooms day for the amount of mess it might put your hair in. Pulling your hair out is not the idea, when you are wearing hair extensions. You will know you have something on your head for the first day or two but after that you won't even feel that they are there. After all, looking good does come up with a price doesn't it?
